Dr. Fred Hill presented a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Winton Woods School District at the Thursday night meeting of the Greenhills Forest Park Kiwanis Club. Superintendent Dr. Camile Nasbe, Board Member John Pennycuff and former member Jim Anthony received the equipment for the district. Ken Goret, from SOS Technologies gave a brief and insightful review on how this type of equipment has been so useful in saving lives. He went on to review two lives saved in the last month by this type of equipment in Cincinnati . The AED will be mounted in a convenient and conspicuous location at the High School so that it is available for first responders in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. Defibrillators have proven themselves in many tense life and death situations when people have collapsed and their heart has stopped pumping effectively. The presentation of the AED was the result of a service project started by Dr. Hill in 2003. The funds were raised by local dentist Dr. Fred Hill, who provided free Smile Whitening when a donation was made to this project. He raised over $4,000 in donations, which were administered by the Greenhills Forest Park Kiwanis Foundation, the financial charity of the Kiwanis Club.
This project also funded other important medical equipment for use in the schools. Two Pulseoximeters, a digital camera and five wheelchairs are now in use for helping students and faculty in event of an accident or illness.
Dr. Hill, past president of the Kiwanis Club, expressed his gratitude to the Club and The Foundation for their support and efforts in the community to bring this project home.
